What is ultrasound therapy?

Therapeutic ultrasound is used in physiotherapy. Ultrasound is applied to the skin through a transmitter gel. The ultrasound waves will penetrate the skin approx 3cm max. Ultrasound waves work on increasing the rate of damaged tissue such as muscle and ligaments.

What are the benefits of ultrasound therapy?

  •   Reduces inflammation and pain
  •   Increases flexibility of scar tissue
  •   Decreases pain associated with trigger point knots

What is ultrasound commonly used for?

  •  Sports injuries e.g. muscle tears/ligament sprains
  •  Facet joint pain of the neck and pain.
  •  Medial collateral ligament sprains of the knee
  •  Tendinitis and tendinopathies
